London shares weak at open

LONDON (AFP) - London shares were weak at the start of trade on Thursday as investors awaited the Bank of England's (BoE) interest rate decision.

The FTSE 100 index of top shares dropped 0.42 percent to 5,086.69 points.

The BoE will later decide whether to inject billions of extra pounds into the economy to help get it out of its longest recession on record.
